One For The Money, Two For the Show.....

For those who might buy this hoping to find red hot sex, royal romps in many places and for a certain voyeurism, you'll get what you want. However, if that's all you want, you're missing the more important parts. This is as much a romance as it is a lead article in "Fortune". It's very explicitly about the sex lives of two men but it's just as much about how they create their own lives and, eventually, literally combine business with (lots of) pleasure.

For everyone who has ever considered or actually made a "sex tape" here's a how to (and how not to) share it with a few of your friends and thousands of strangers. It answers many questions participants in these amateur pictorials may have asked. We find that the two men involved weren't so immediately determined to charge money for the pleasure-and it is-of watching them both make love and sex. That they made a business out of it happens at last, not at first. There's a certain mind set that must be present to allow anyone who wishes, for a modest sum, to watch you or you and someone else perform sex acts. But what sets Cole and Hunter (the Maverick Men of the title) apart is that they stick with each other. In the book and on the internet it's clear that these are two people that care for and about each other and those with whom they eventually interact. They're not willing to be drawn to the sleazy side of porn (and for those who think all porn is sleaze, this may alter your perceptions) and have standards which they stick to. Their inclusion of others is by invitation not solicitation. (Who's lucky enough to live across the street from a frat house full of randy young men?) It's a small circle of friends but each adds something to the fabric of the text.

It's also a cautionary tale about believing what you cannot see and, in this era, this may be the thing I'd want any reader to take away as much as the fun and games of sex. These are intelligent people who find themselves online for reasons they don't understand. Not everything in the book ends happily but lessons are learned certainly by the authors and hopefully by the reader.

At first I was a bit off put by the "he said/he said" construction but it develops a rhythm that works very nicely. At times the writing is too pat suggesting an overly enthusiastic editor but it's never uninteresting. Face it, these gentlemen have a fascinating tale to tell and they do so in an intriguing fashion that cannot help but remind you of Mickey and Judy and all those kids who want to put on a show. Cole and Hunter want to put on a show and do and we should all be grateful to them for their candor and courage in keeping in the bits that validate the truth of the material.

To those who would "never consider" buying "that kind of a book" I'd ask that you think again. If nothing else it will sharpen your own concept of sin and, along with your being shocked, you might just learn something. I'd suggest even having a good time but then.....

I should start off by saying that I never read books...I never have time and usually after trying to get through the first chapter I get bored. BUT, this book had me hooked after the first few pages, no joke. I've never really been into the hole erotica novel, but this book has so much more factored into it than just sex. And its also not just about Cole and Hunter but all of their friends, which makes for really good stories and characters.I feel that any gay dude reading this book can relate himself to one of the characters and at least knows a dozen people who remind him of the other characters. But I must admit, I was reading one of the chapters in class one day and lets just say that I got a little more excited than I expected too. All in all my favorite aspect of this book is that it shows you can be different, deviant, and not follow the beaten path and still find great success, but more important, finding true love. Best of luck to you Cole and Hunter, can't wait to read some more stories in the future!

It's not often I read a book, let alone in one day! This book was hott, funny, and gave me much more than I expected to get. I'm a big fan of their videos from xtube to manhunt and I'm excited to see these two take it to the next level! If you're already a fan of Maverick and Hunter, or have seen one of their videos, it's obvious that there's something extra special about their material. It's the same thing as far as their relationship! Not just two guys having fun, but two guys that are in love with each other and in love with having fun. Read this and find out what I'm talking about! Keep up the good work, you two!!!

Two stories about circumstances around creating life (babies)

When I ordered this book, I did not realize it composed two stories. I liked the second story more than the first. The characters in the second story seemed more believable and the story line in the second story seemed more likely. The way these babies were conceived make for very interesting conversation if these scenarios were real. Wow, what family gossip! All in all I enjoyed these stories. If you are a constant reader you will finish this book fast. It took me all of a day and a half to complete it. There were some plot short comings in the stories but good diversionary reading for a lazy Sunday afternoon or vacation.

She is one of my favorite authors, so of course I wanted this book.
I was not disappointed.
Two wonderful stories that kept my attention.

We are a nation of immigrants, and we have always been concerned about immigration. As early as 1645, the Massachusetts Bay Colony began to prohibit the entry of “paupers.” Today, however, the notion that immigration is universally beneficial has become pervasive. To many modern economists, immigrants are a trove of much-needed workers who can fill predetermined slots along the proverbial assembly line.

But this view of immigration’s impact is overly simplified, explains George J. Borjas, a Cuban-American, Harvard labor economist. Immigrants are more than just workers―they’re people who have lives outside of the factory gates and who may or may not fit the ideal of the country to which they’ve come to live and work. Like the rest of us, they’re protected by social insurance programs, and the choices they make are affected by their social environments.

In We Wanted Workers, Borjas pulls back the curtain of political bluster to show that, in the grand scheme, immigration has not affected the average American all that much. But it has created winners and losers. The losers tend to be nonmigrant workers who compete for the same jobs as immigrants. And somebody’s lower wage is somebody else’s higher profit, so those who employ immigrants benefit handsomely. In the end, immigration is mainly just another government redistribution program.

This book can help you.

I bought this book for myself, I did not purchase the other book as my husband has recently become atheist. I have had struggles in my marriage since then so I bought this book to help work on myself. To help work on my love for my husband despite our major differences. It has, in a way, "forced" me to love him even on our bad days. This book can humble you, if you let it. I assume the Bethke's wrote this book with intentions of being a fun challenge for couples, but considering my situation this has instead left a different, but great impact on me. If your relationship is God based get this book, if one believes and the other doesn't, get this book, if you find it hard to love your husband, get the book. I don't think you'll regret it. This book will help you more than it will help him, as long as your not looking for anything in return.

I've been finding love in a new relationship as a single mom post divorce...we are both divorced with young children and needing healing. This book has helped me immensely in reflecting Christ to my partner. It's not always easy, especially when you've been hurt in the past, but God is faithful and can redeem that which the locust has eaten.

It's been good to give me more ideas for ways to actively show love to my husband. It's always good to be proactive about your marriage even in the good seasons. These are creative ways and tools that I can use for a long time. I originally thought it was more of a marriage building tool to do together and discuss, but the books are more individual than I thought.

In today’s digital world, we have multiple modes of meaning-making: sounds, images, hypertexts. Yet, within literacy education, even ‘new’ literacies, we know relatively little about how to work with and produce modally complex texts.  
 
In Working with Multimodality, Jennifer Rowsell focuses on eight modes: words, images, sounds, movement, animation, hypertext, design and modal learning. Throughout the book each mode is illustrated by cases studies based on the author’s interviews with thirty people, who have extensive experience working with a mode in their field. From a song writer to a well known ballet dancer, these people all discuss what it means to do multimodality well.

This accessible textbook brings the multiple modes together into an integrated theory of multimodality. Step-by-step, beginning with theory then exploring modes and how to work with them, before concluding with how to apply this in an investigation, each stage of working with multimodality is covered.

About the Author
Jennifer Rowsell is an Assistant Professor of English Education at Rutgers University where she teaches and conducts research in the areas of New Literacy Studies and multiliteracies. She has co-authored Literacy and Education: Understanding the New Literacy Studies in the Classroom (Sage, 2005) with Kate Pahl and The Literacy Principal with David Booth (Pembroke, 2002).
