Klaas Deforche
Klaas Deforche started working as a developer on Microsoft Dynamics AX in 2007 for the Belgian ICT company RealDolmen, primarily working with Dynamics AX 4.0. He gained experience with AX 2009 while working on projects for some wellknown Belgian fashion retailers, especially on the integration side of things. He is currently working on AX 2012 projects for customers in the healthcare sector. Klaas likes to share his knowledge with the community, which is why he started his AXoriented blog artofcreation.be in 2009. This is also why, in 2012, Klaas coauthored the book Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 Services, Packt Publishing, to help spread knowledge on the subject.
Kenny Saelen
Kenny Saelen is a Dynamics AX MVP who works for the Belgian ICT company RealDolmen. He started as a developer on Microsoft Dynamics AX in 2004, primarily working on a European customer implementation with Dynamics AX 3.0. At RealDolmen, he gained experience with Dynamics AX 2009 while implementing AX internally, followed by an implementation at a book wholesale company. Currently, he is working as a technical architect for a worldwide customer implementation with Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2, mainly working towards integrating Dynamics AX with other technologies such as SharePoint, BizTalk, and AgilePoint. A must for Dynamics AX developers

It was a great coincidence that this book came out just before I was tasked with creating a couple of Dynamics AX AIF services. Every Dynamics AX developer knows that Microsoft’s own documentation is often incomplete and scattered around so it’s hard to get a full picture of how to get from nothing to your desired result.
This book saved me a lot of time providing all necessary information to create the end result I needed.
The book is greatly structured. It starts out with an introduction into SOA which is great for new developers. Next it gradually brings you into the world of Dynamics AX service implementation. It gives thorough explanation of how to set up services in the environment. Then it explains how to create two major types of AIF services – a document service and a custom service. A separate chapter describes all necessary details on how to use system services and includes a number of samples.
Honestly I would expect the authors to stop right here – but they didn’t. They added a whole chapter on how to use the new SysOperation framework which is great even for developers who don’t need to touch AIF. There’s a chapter on High Availability that will appeal to system administrators and another one for Tracing and Debugging.
Overall it’s a great book that a lot of audience will find very relevant to their daily tasks.

Brilliant Book!!!!

The ability of implementing new services using Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 is one of the "need-to-have" skills of any developer.
This book drives you into the art of creating, deploying and consuming services.
It is a must-to-have on top of your desk, full of useful example and how-to tips for fixing configuration errors.
I was able to implement my first oData service is a very short time.
The last chapters introduce to High availability, how to configure AX and how to trace and debug the CIL compiled code.
It is well written, full of examples and figures and makes you able to finish complex tasks easier
I strongly suggest buying this book: it is really worth the money you pay.
